CANCON-12, the 12th Annual International Conference for the deciduous fruit processing and allied industries, will be held in Stellenbosch, South Africa from 9-12 March 2014. The conference is one of the most highly acclaimed events in the fruit industry worldwide, offering interested parties the opportunity to participate and share knowledge at the highest level.  Apart from the conference agenda, you will also have the opportunity to see the orchards and fruit processing factories in the beautiful Western Cape Province and experience some of the famous tourist attractions in South Africa. Various tour options, whether day trips or extended trips are available from the Tour Operators of the CANCON-12 Conference. Pre-conference tours (an extended overland trip from Port Elizabeth or day trips in and around Stellenbosch/Cape Town)

An extended overland trip from Port Elizabeth, along the Southern Cape's Garden Route is available to delegates of the Cancon-12 meeting. For more detail click here, or contact Eugene or Nelie at Cape AgriTours.

A variety of day trips, in and around Stellenbosch and Cape Town are also available. These can be the same or similar to those advertised for Thursday, 13 March, or we can tailermake your special programme for a day or two., Once again, Eugene & Nelie are the right people to assist you with all your needs. This could also include car rental, should you prefer to spend some time on your own.

Grand Tour of the Fairest Cape (available on Thursday, 13 March 2014 / or private booking as required)

Included in the day is a sea cruise from Hout Bay harbour to view the Cape fur seals, a visit to Cape Point, the Cape of Good Hope and the nature reserve, as well as the African penguins at Boulders Beach near Simonstown. Lunch is included at Cape Point or Simonstown. If time allows a late afternoon stop will be made at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens (as an optional extra). A minimum of 6 delegates is required to make this tour possible.

Full day Winelands - Stellenbosch & Franschhoek (available on Thursday, 13 March 2014 / or private booking as required)

Visit the historic towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek or Paarl - each with its unique history and background. Your tour will also include at least 3 stops at a variety of wine/liquor establishments, depending on your preference of wine style, and will take in some of the best-known sites in the towns. Lunch is included at one of the estates. A similar tour can also be arranged (optional extra day) to the Worcester and Robertson regions, where many more top quality producers can be visited, while a relaxing lunch can be enjoyed while cruising down the Breede River. Wine styles are vastly different from the areas close to Cape Town.

White Shark cage diving experience (available on Thursday, 13 March 2014 / or private booking as required)

This day trip calls for a very early start from Stellenbosch, making your way along the False Bay coastline to Hermanus, Stanford, Gansbaai and eventually Kleinbaai. Here you will check in with the local boat operator and make your way out to sea, to go and view the Great White's of shark alley. Your trip includes transport, breakfast the boat trip and cage dive and lunch. You are return to your hotel by mid-afternoon.

Morning safari to the Aquila Private Game Reserve (available on Thursday, 13 March 2014 / or private booking as required)

Aquila is a very well-managed private wildlife reserve about 2 hours from Cape Town. The is the closest spot to the city where you can view the BIG5 of Africa. On arrival you will enjoy breakfast, then the game and and lunch, before you are returned to the conference hotel, or you will be taken directly to Cape Town International Airport for your homebound flight out of Cape Town.

Overnight safari to the Aquila Private Game Reserve (available on Thursday/Friday, 13/14 March 2014 / or private booking as required)

Aquila is a very well-managed private wildlife reserve about 2 hours from Cape Town. The is the closest spot to the city where you can view the BIG5 of Africa. To make the trip slightly more exicting, there is also a sleepover opportunity! You will depart from the conference centre by mid-morning in order to arrive at Aquila at lunchtime. After lunch, you will check in to your rooms, before and an afternoon safari is undertaken. Following a buffet dinner, you can retire early. On day 2 an early morning wake-up call, will get you ready for your morning game drive, and then breakfast is enjoyed at the lodge. After a mid-morning check out you will be take to the Cape Town International Airport, or a designated spot in the city.

Post conference overland wildlife safari to Mabula - a malaria-free region of South Africa

South Africa is renound all over the world for the quality and extent of our wildlife conservation. Mabula Private Game Lodge, just some 2½ hours north of the Johannesburg International Airport is one of the closest parks to a major airport hub. Located in a malaria-free region of the country, this is an extra plus to consider a trip to this safari paradise.
